Este nuevo molde de Academy fue lanzado en 2015 y representa un considerable avance sobre el molde anterior de esta marca del AH-64A, el cual era bastante bueno para la escala. Este kit representa el AH-64D Block II versión inicial, y se ha puesto especial atención en reproducir los detalles de esta variante, no hablamos simplemente de un AH-64 con mástil de radar.
This new Academy mold was launched in 2015 and represents a considerable advance over the previous mold for this brand of AH-64A, which was quite good for scale. This kit represents the initial version of the AH-64D Block II, and special attention has been paid to reproduce the details of this variant, we are not talking simply about an AH-64 with a radar mast.
INSTRUCCIONES
Las hojas de instrucciones constan de dos partes, una grande y doblada en cuatro secciones, está imprimida en blanco y negro con un diseño claro y conciso, sin apenas texto (en inglés y coreano) e incluye carta de colores Humbrol , Gunze, Lifecolor, Testors, Revell y Vallejo. Vemos ya en el primer paso de las instrucciones que hay que prestar atención a practicar unos pocos orificios por todo el interior de las mitades del fuselaje. Los paneles de mandos de la cabina vienen en relieve y se complementan con calcas para las consolas. Hay detalles como algunos paneles que vienen por separado que dan la opción de ponerlos abiertos si trabajamos el interior.
The instruction sheet consists of two parts, one large and folded into four sections, is printed in black and white with a clear and concise design, sparse in text (in English and Korean) and includes Humbrol , Gunze, Lifecolor, Testors, Revell and Vallejo colour charts. We see already in the first step of the instructions that we have to pay attention to practice a few holes all over the inside of the fuselage halves. The cockpit control panels are embossed and complemented with decals for the consoles. There are details such as some panels that come separately that give the option to put them open if we work the interior.
La segunda hoja de instrucciones es mas pequeña y está doblada en dos secciones, también en blanco y negro y consta de un diagrama de piezas, unos planos de colocación de calcas y las opciones de decoración que veremos a continuación.
The second sheet of instructions is smaller and is folded in two sections, also in black and white and consists of a parts location diagram, some decal placement plans and the decoration options that we will see below.
CALCAS Y DECORACIÓN
La hoja de calcas, diseñada por Crossdelta e imprimida por Cartograf, tiene muy buen aspecto, con soportes ajustadisimos a los dibujos y gran variedad de decoraciones, que suelen ser bastante pobres en este tipo de aeronaves, las opciones que nos ofrece el kit son las siguientes:

PIEZAS
Las piezas vienen repartidas en tres grapas de color gris y una transparente para la cabina. El panelado viene finamente grabado con detalles en tiradores, asas y otros elementos repartidos por toda la superficie del helicóptero. Llama la atención por un lado el gran rotor hecho en una sola pieza, y el cuidado que ha puesto Academy en proteger aquellas piezas mas delicadas. Detalles a destacar son el interior de la cabina, los escapes del motor y tren de aterrizaje, con un nivel suficiente para la escala. Encontramos elementos opcionales como la torreta frontal del visor del piloto, o el radar Longbow montado en el mástil del rotor que, aunque las instrucciones nos indican montarlo, no todas las unidades de esta versión del Apache montaban el radar, que se podía desmontar eventualmente para ganar maniobrabilidad.
The parts are divided into three grey trees and one transparent tree for the canopy. The panels are finely engraved with details on hinges, handles and other elements distributed over the entire surface of the helicopter. The large rotor made in one piece and the care that Academy has taken to protect the most delicate parts is striking. Details to emphasize are the interior of the cockpits, the engine and landing gear exhausts, with a level sufficient for the scale. We found optional elements such as the front turret of the pilot’s optics, or the Longbow radar mounted on the rotor mast that, although the instructions tell us to mount it, not all the units of this version of the Apache mounted the radar, which could be eventually dismounted to gain maneuverability.
La carlinga viene muy bien detallada con sus remaches pero se presenta en una sola pieza, lo cual complica ponerla abierta.
The canopy comes very well detailed with its rivets but is presented in one piece, which makes it difficult to put it open.
Las opciones de armamento no son muy variadas como cabía de esperar en un kit de este helicóptero, se echa en falta versiones del Hellfire como las AGM-114L Longbow, pero se aprecia un suficiente nivel de detalle tanto del cañón como del armamento lanzable, que consiste en lo siguiente:

- 2 x M261 pods de 19 cohetes Hydra 70
The weaponry options are not as varied as you would expect in a kit of this helicopter, versions of the Hellfire such as the AGM-114L Longbow are missing, but there is a sufficient level of detail in both the gun and expendable weaponry, which consists of the following:
- 8 x AGM-114K Hellfire
- 2 x M261 pods of 19 Hydra 70 rockets
CONCLUSIÓN
Academy ha cumplido con este kit, ofreciendo una reproducción bastante acertada de esta versión del Apache a un precio asequible, con panelado fino, buen nivel de detalles exteriores e interiores y hasta 6 opciones de decoración. Como único punto en contra señalamos la carlinga que solo se puede montar cerrada.
Academy has delivered on this kit, offering a fairly accurate reproduction of this version of the Apache at an affordable price, with fine panelling, good level of exterior and interior detail and up to 6 decorating options. The only point against it is the cockpit, which can only be mounted closed.
